G Series - Meridian's G Series electronics combine legendary Meridian sound and picture quality with stunning looks, an innovative user interface and great feature combinations. The G Series is very popular and has received the highest praise. It includes CD players, DVD-Audio/Video players, analogue preamp/controllers, surround controllers, a receiver – and a selection of power amps.
Introducing... The Meridian G Series
And All G Series components have the same footprint, and are built into an elegant enclosure suitable for free-standing operation, or can be rack-mounted with additional hardware kits. All units are available both in traditional Meridian black and in a sleek new silver finish. In addition, the units all feature a similar user interface, based around an easy to read dotmatrix vacuum fluorescent display (VFD).
The G Series is accompanied by a new multi-function programmable/learning remote control, the Meridian System Remote Plus, that features automatic backlighting.
While all G Series components can be configured from the front panel and remote control, full installation configuration of many G Series components is achieved by running a special setup program on a Windows computer, connected to the G Series unit via serial link. The program enables a graphic plan of your system to be constructed, showing all the components and the interconnections between them, and permits set-up of all the parameters available.
Inside, the Meridian G Series is new from the ground up. Technologies originally invented for our flagship 800 series products have been re-cast and included in the G Series. Other aspects of the design are developments of our award-winning 500 Series components while the G Series also incorporates brand new approaches, particularly as far as the combination of functionality in a given unit is concerned.
For the first time, for example, there is a receiver – the G51 – which includes AM/FM tuner, preamplifier and stereo power amp. And in the Meridian tradition of upgradability, many G Series components can be upgraded with new firmware and hardware as new developments are made and new industry standards emerge.
The Meridian G Series range includes Sources, Controllers/Preamps, Processors and Amplifiers, with additional components that bridge these categories. In some cases, different variants are available, allowing you to choose exactly the unit you need for your system. For example, some components can be purchased with different outputs: analogue, digital or a combination of the two.
G Series components are designed to interconnect, building complete, integrated systems. Where all the links in the chain are designed and built to the same, exacting criteria – where superb sound and impeccable visuals are fundamental requirements – you can be assured of the very best results, and the highest possible standards. At Meridian we believe that the greatest musical enjoyment comes via acoustically transparent audio products of timeless elegance and simplicity. We see design as the evolutionary process by which a great idea is made better as techniques and processes mature. We are not fashion victims. We create our products to provide lasting value in an evolving technical climate.
For this reason, we design and assemble every part ourselves in our own factory.
Each product is designed to play its part in our complete system of audio and video sound - a system over which we and you have complete control.
Since we write our own software, all Meridian products can work together seamlessly, controlled from one handset.
During over 20 years of continuous development we have pioneered some interesting design 'firsts'. Meridian was the first company to produce a 'high- end' CD player and the first to make a separated CD transport and DAC (digital to analogue converter).
We also prefer to build loudspeakers with integral dedicated amplifiers and digital crossovers -rather like building the engine and transmission into your car.
Loudspeakers like this simply work better, sound clearer, give deeper bass and are smaller than their conventional equivalents. Most recording studios think the same. In addition to these benefits, our DSP (digital signal processing) provides brilliant techniques to steer and adapt the sound to the acoustics of your room for the best possible performance. Like some computers, the audio and video circuits are designed in a card based format that can be configured exactly to your needs and can adapt to changing technology. Unlike a computer, the 800 Series is beautifully crafted from the finest quality materials and is designed to provide a lifetime's listening pleasure.
The most important component in the 800 Series is invisible - it's called peace of mind. Our carefully trained field installers will advise you on the best system for your needs. Then we build it to your exact requirements. When the system is fitted, the setup of your sound room is measured and recorded. Sometimes we can even upgrade your system via email.
The products are housed in full size, optional rack mount enclosures.
