MC2KW

2,000 Watt Reference Power Amplifier

The dynamic range of live music places enormous demands on even the most powerful amplifiers. The MC2KW Monoblock Power Amplifier is designed to exceed those demands, delivering 2000 watts of continuous power and 8000 watts at the peaks. Shear power output is but the beginning of the story, however. The MC2KW features McIntosh Quad Balanced Circuitry which, in the process of creating such extraordinary power, actually cancels virtually all noise and distortion. Listening to music through the MC2KW one gets a sense that all barriers between the performer and the listener have been removed, leaving only the raw passion and excitement of the performance.

The MC2KW’s unique design incorporates three modules. Two 1000-watt Power Modules each contain half the balanced circuitry and a power supply. The Output Module houses the input and output connections, meter, output autoformer, and functions as the control center. The bifilar-wound, mirror-image output transformer combines the two signals from the Power Modules, cancelling noise and distortion while summing the power output.

Audio and Video Preamplifier Processor

The MX120 is designed to be the hub of a fine home theater system combining legendary McIntosh analog two-channel performance with the latest digital audio and video signal processing and source switching.

Balanced and singled-ended audio outputs are supported. Pure analog and two-channel bypass modes are provided, as is a low noise MM phono preamp. A multi-channel input is included. Balanced and unbalanced analog inputs are supported. Three optical and three coaxial digital audio inputs are provided and assignable to any audio/video input.

MCD1000

CD Transport

With an advanced optomechanical design that provides the ultimate in sonic purity, the MCD1000 could be the last CD transport a listener will ever need. A robust, silent running transport mechanism is utilized and provides crisp response to commands. A machined disc tray and linear bearings round out the opulent look and feel of the device; it is simply a joy to use.

The MCD1000 connects directly to the McIntosh MDA1000 D/A Converter or to any DAC-equipped component with a digital input. A full complement of digital outputs is provided including balanced AES/EBU. Stunning 3D glass panel cosmetics, excellent performance, and superior convenience, are among the hallmarks of this fine CD transport.

POWER SUPPLY

Multiple layers of regulation provide clean power to all critical circuits. The R-Core power transformer has the lowest noise field of any available.

TRANSPORT ISOLATION

High power systems with high power woofer systems place greater demands on the CD transport. The MCD1000 is designed to work under these conditions without producing tracking error that must be corrected later down the data stream .

MACHINED TOP AND SIDE PANELS

The top and sides of the MCD1000 are machined from thick aluminum panels with a smooth black anodized finish. In the recessed area of the top panel is a glass panel screened with a block diagram of the MCD1000’s circuitry.

 

FRONT PANEL DESIGN

3D front panel glass design is illuminated with long-life; cool-running fiber optics that make operation in low light easier. Silk screening on the inside of the glass front panel prevents wear of the nomenclature, ensuring lasting beauty and highest resale value…a McIntosh hallmark feature.
