The self-contained audio system is the latest to incorporate advanced digital signal processing (DSP) and boasts four custom drivers, four amplifiers, four digital converters, digital crossovers and advanced sound-shaping technology. The British manufacturer’s Meridian DSP7200 features upgrades with internal electronics and advanced software, along with upgraded transducer drive units and power amplifiers. The Meridian DSP7200 also marks the brand’s first loudspeaker range to include the latest SpeakerLink input-board component, which allows for Ethernet ports for "Meridian Comms" interconnection through CAT-5 cabling, resulting in a fully digital audio system. This special feature eliminates to need to hide extensive wiring and also adds to the accurate and effective approach to sound reproduction.
Like all Meridian DSP loudspeakers, the 7200 design rests on the pillars of digital signal processing for crossover filtering and other signal manipulation. The DSP7200 also features the cabinet structure symbolic of the Meridian brand. The innovative and multi-layered “sandwich” of high-grade woods and metal are formed in the shape of a curve and are pressure-laminated to create an almost perfect vibration- and resonance-free casing. The cabinets are available in the trademark gloss piano-black lacquer, silver lacquer or in custom colors by special request. Music lovers will also appreciate the new, up-sampling filter that allows for CDs and DVD soundtracks to sound more pure than ever. Users also notice that the loudspeaker is even proficient enough to correct faults in the original musical recording.
